How do you fundraise for this event?!

The Oldman Backyard Ultra is a unique running experience, but it’s also a run for a cause, supporting youth and families in Lethbridge who need it most! We strongly encourage all participants to seek out pledges from family, friends and colleagues. For 2025, every $1500 raised at the event, one youth is sponsored for a full year at youth one, giving them free access to all programs, meals and support services. There are 3 ways to give:

  1. Pledge towards an individual runner and their total laps completed.

  2. Pledge towards the group lap total. (eg, In 2023 the total lap count was 547)

  3. One time donation

Pledge letter and tracker - Below is our downloadable giving pledge letter and pledge tracker. Feel free to download this and track your pledges. Once the race is complete you are expected to follow up with your pledgees and let them know how much they need to donate based on your results, or the group results. Donations can be made online, or by cheque (To Youth One, memo: Oldman Backyard Ultra).

Personal online fundraising page - Once you register as a participant, you can create your own giving page. This is where you can send your friends and family to make their pledge per lap donation following your race. Follow these steps to set up your page.

Step 1 - Go to our main campaign page (Will be posted in the new year) and click the button “I want to fundraise for this”

Step 2 - Follow the prompts to get your page up and running.

Step 3 - You can edit your campaign page by clicking the edit icon, then you have the options to add a profile pic, a personal goal and even a note to display for those considering giving.  If adding a note, please leave the default text so anyone viewing the page has access to event information.

Step 4 - Copy and share your url link with your people post event!  Once the race is complete, this is where those who have pledged per lap to donate their totals. Simply follow up with your family and friends, and let them know how many laps you completed. They can go to your page you created and donate the total amount.

Any participant who raises $1500 or more, gains a free entry to next years event!
